Oklahoma has for a long time been synonymous with Bingo. That is because the Native bands of Oklahoma have provided Bingo sessions for many years. Patrons from many of the surrounding states pile in trucks and head over to Oklahoma to gamble on Bingo on the weekends.
The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act followed a precedent setting ruling by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year before. Since that time, twenty three of the 39 American Indian bands of Oklahoma have introduced bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Indian band to take advantage of the gambling rules, and today operate ten casinos of their very own. Bingo was the game on which the above-mentioned casinos were built on. computerized games like slot machine games weren’t authorized, since they’re believed to contribute to gambling problems more than bingo.
In recent years, Oklahoma law have altered to permit large Indian gaming casinos. You will now see Amerindian casinos with slots, video poker and chemin de fer tables. Craps and roulette are not yet legal in the Native casinos as of yet, but this is only a waiting game. No one can determine whether having other games in the bingo parlours will do for the appeal of bingo.
